Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 1 box fudge brownie mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 egg

Chocolate Fudge Topping

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate extract

Decoration

  • Candy eyeballs

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the brownies.
  2. Mix Brownie Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the fudge brownie mix, water, oil, and egg. Stir thoroughly until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  3. Prepare Baking Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with foil or parchment paper for easy removal and cleanup.
  4. Bake Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool Brownies: Remove brownies from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan to set properly before topping.
  6. Prepare Double Boiler: Fill a small pot with about 2 inches of water and bring it to a boil on the stovetop. Place a metal or glass bowl on top of the pot, ensuring the bowl does not touch the water.
  7. Melt Chocolate Fudge: Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk to the bowl. Stir continuously until the mixture melts completely and reaches a smooth consistency. Stir in the chocolate extract to enhance flavor.
  8. Top Brownies: Pour the melted chocolate fudge evenly over the cooled brownies in the pan, spreading it smoothly.
  9. Decorate: Immediately decorate the fudge topping by placing candy eyeballs on top to create a fun, spooky effect.
  10. Set Fudge: Allow the fudge to cool and set for at least 2 to 3 hours before slicing to ensure clean cuts and the best texture.

Notes

  • For easy removal, use foil or parchment paper with overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan.
  • Make sure the brownie base is completely cooled before pouring on the fudge topping to prevent it from melting and running.
  • You can substitute candy eyeballs with other Halloween-themed candies as preferred.
  • If you don’t have chocolate extract, vanilla extract can be used as an alternative.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated for up to 5 days.
