Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs

Glaze Sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

Thickener

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Garnish (optional)

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the boneless, skinless chicken thighs dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help the chicken sear properly and develop a nice golden crust when cooked.
  2. Make the Glaze Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated fresh ginger until well combined. Set this mixture aside to use later as the flavorful glaze for the chicken.
  3. Sear the Chicken: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken thighs in a single layer without crowding the pan. Cook each side for about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, pour the honey garlic mixture and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Slowly add the slurry to the simmering sauce while stirring constantly to thicken it. Continue cooking for 1-2 minutes until the sauce becomes glossy and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Glaze the Chicken: Return the seared chicken thighs to the skillet and spoon the thickened honey garlic sauce over them. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, turning the chicken occasionally, so they are well coated and heated through.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the glazed chicken to a serving plate. Sprinkle with optional sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and visual appeal. Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables of your choice.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze sauce.
  • Boneless, skinless chicken thighs work best for quick cooking and tenderness, but bone-in thighs can be used with longer cooking time.
  • Make sure to not overcrowd the pan when searing to achieve a nice crust.
  • This sauce can also be doubled and used as a dipping sauce or drizzle over rice bowls.
