Ginger Ale Base
- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- 2 ½ ounces lemon juice (1 lemon), freshly squeezed
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons water
To Serve
- 16 ounces sparkling water (or carbonated water)
- Ice cubes
- Squeeze the lemon: Begin by cutting the lemon in half and squeezing it to extract fresh lemon juice. Measure out approximately 2 ½ ounces to use in the recipe.
- Add ingredients to blender: Place the freshly squeezed lemon juice into a blender along with 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger, 2 tablespoons honey, and 2 tablespoons water.
- Blend the mixture: Blend these ingredients together until well combined to create a ginger-honey lemon syrup.
- Strain mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine strainer to remove ginger fiber and pulp, resulting in a smooth syrup.
- Prepare the drink: Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the ginger-lemon syrup over the ice.
- Top with sparkling water: Slowly add 16 ounces of chilled sparkling water to the glass, stirring gently to combine while maintaining the carbonation.
- Serve immediately: Serve the homemade ginger ale fresh for the best fizzy and refreshing taste.
Notes
- Adjust honey amount according to your preferred sweetness level.
- Use fresh ginger for the best flavor; powdered ginger will alter the taste.
- For a stronger ginger kick, increase the ginger amount slightly.
- If you prefer less fizz, reduce the sparkling water quantity.
- Store the ginger syrup in the refrigerator for up to 3 days if made in advance.
