Scale

Banana Bread Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (the darker and squishier, the better)
  • 1/3 cup melted butter (salted or unsalted)
  • 3/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature when your batter is ready.
  2. Prepare Bananas and Butter: In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth but still slightly chunky. Stir in the melted butter until well combined.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the banana-butter mixture. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients: Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, then gently stir in the all-purpose flour. Mix just until incorporated to keep the bread tender; avoid overmixing.
  5. Prepare Baking Tin: Grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan lightly with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  6. Pour Batter and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Ensure bananas are very ripe for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • Adjust sugar to taste if you prefer a sweeter or less sweet bread.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread light and tender.
  • Check doneness starting at 55 minutes to prevent overbaking.
  • Use a loaf pan approximately 4×8 inches for best results.
  • Add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips can be included for variation.
