Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls

Cheese Mixture

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tbsp jarred salsa

Taco Toppings

  • 1 1/4 lb ground beef
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning
  • 3 to 4 diced roma tomatoes
  • 4 to 5 oz shredded cheddar jack cheese
  • 1/2 oz bag shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the crescent roll crust evenly.
  2. Prepare the Crust: Unroll the two tubes of refrigerated crescent rolls and press them together on a greased pizza pan or baking sheet to form one large crust, sealing the seams well.
  3. Bake the Crust: Bake the formed crust in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until it turns golden brown. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool slightly.
  4. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat and stir in the taco seasoning along with the amount of water indicated on the seasoning package. Simmer until the seasoning mixture thickens and coats the beef well. Remove from heat.
  5. Mix the Cheese Base: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and salsa until smooth and creamy. Spread this mixture evenly over the baked crescent roll crust.
  6. Add the Taco Meat: Evenly spread the cooked and seasoned ground beef over the cream cheese layer on the crust.
  7. Top with Fresh Ingredients: Sprinkle diced roma tomatoes and shredded cheddar jack cheese evenly over the meat layer.
  8. Bake the Pizza: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Add Lettuce and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, sprinkle the shredded lettuce evenly on top, slice, and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • For extra heat, consider adding jalapeño slices or a dash of hot sauce to the cream cheese mixture.
  • Use a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese for a richer flavor.
  • If you prefer a crispier crust, bake the crescent rolls slightly longer before adding toppings.
  • Leftover pizza can be refrigerated and reheated, but add fresh lettuce only before serving to keep it crisp.
  • This recipe can be adapted to use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
