4.7 from 84 reviews

Oreo Balls are an easy, no-bake treat combining crushed Oreo cookies and cream cheese, coated with smooth, melted chocolate. Perfect as a bite-sized dessert or for parties, these rich and creamy truffles deliver the classic Oreo flavor in a fun new way.

Ingredients

Scale

Oreo Ball Mixture

  • 36 regular Oreo cookies
  • 1 (8-ounce) package brick-style cream cheese, softened (226 grams)

Chocolate Coating

  • 16 ounces chocolate (semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate, 452 grams)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they are finely crushed into crumbs. If you do not have a food processor, place the cookies in a sealed plastic bag and crush them using a rolling pin or heavy object until finely ground.
  2. Mix with Cream Cheese: In a large bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese. Mix thoroughly until well combined and smooth, forming a consistent dough-like mixture.
  3. Form Balls: Using your hands or a small cookie scoop, form the mixture into small, evenly sized balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper.
  4. Chill the Balls: Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 1 hour or freeze for about 20 minutes, allowing them to firm up and become easier to dip in chocolate.
  5. Melt the Chocolate: While the balls chill, gently melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently, until fully smooth.
  6. Coat the Oreo Balls: Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is completely covered. Allow excess chocolate to drip off, then place back onto the lined baking sheet.
  7. Set the Coating: Refrigerate the coated Oreo balls again for at least 30 minutes until the chocolate is firm and set.
  8. Serve and Store: Once set, serve the Oreo balls chilled or at room temperature. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

  • You can use any variety of chocolate for coating, including white or milk chocolate, to customize the flavor.
  • For added decoration, drizzle contrasting melted chocolate over the set balls or sprinkle with crushed Oreos or sprinkles before the coating sets.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is properly softened for easy mixing.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking during chilling.
  • Do not over-melt the chocolate to avoid seizing; stir frequently while heating.
