Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

Dredge Mixture

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Bang Bang Sauce

  • ⅓ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 12 teaspoons Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar or lime juice

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil (enough for frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Cut the boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces, ensuring they are all roughly the same size for even cooking.
  2. Mix the dredge: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a seasoned flour mixture.
  3. Coat the chicken: Toss the chicken pieces in the seasoned flour mixture, making sure each piece is fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.
  4. Heat the oil: Pour vegetable oil into a deep skillet or frying pan to about 1-2 inches depth. Heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Test the oil by dropping a small piece of coated chicken; it should sizzle immediately.
  5. Fry the chicken: Carefully add chicken pieces in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes per batch, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken and drain on paper towels.
  6. Prepare the Bang Bang sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, honey, and rice vinegar or lime juice until smooth and well combined.
  7. Toss chicken in sauce: Place the fried chicken in a large bowl. Pour the Bang Bang sauce over the chicken and gently toss until every piece is evenly coated.
  8. Serve: Serve immediately while crispy, garnished with sliced green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy as an appetizer or alongside rice or vegetables.

Notes

  • You can adjust the spiciness of the sauce by varying the amount of Sriracha or using a milder chili sauce.
  • For extra crispy chicken, double dredge by dipping chicken pieces in a beaten egg before coating with flour mixture.
  • Leftover Bang Bang Chicken can be reheated in an oven to retain crispiness better than a microwave.
  • This recipe can be made gluten-free by swapping all-purpose flour with rice flour or a gluten-free flour blend.
