For the Dough
- 1 ½–2 cups all purpose flour (195g), plus extra for rolling
- 1 package instant or quick yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅔ cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons oil
For the Topping
- 3 slices thick cut bacon
- 4 eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, salt, sugar, dried oregano, and garlic powder. Gradually add the warm water and oil into the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Cook the bacon: While the dough is rising, cook the thick-cut bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels. Once cool, chop or crumble the bacon into bite-sized pieces.
- Preheat the oven and prepare the baking surface: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or pizza stone, or line it with parchment paper. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface to your preferred pizza size and thickness, then transfer it to your prepared baking sheet.
- Prepare the egg mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until combined and lightly frothy.
- Assemble the pizza: Evenly scatter the cooked bacon over the rolled-out dough. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the bacon and dough, spreading it gently with a spatula to cover the surface without flooding it. You can also crack whole eggs on top if desired for a different texture.
- Bake the pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown, and the egg is set and cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy your hearty breakfast pizza!
Notes
- You can add shredded cheese such as mozzarella or cheddar for extra flavor.
- Feel free to customize the toppings with veggies like bell peppers, onions, or spinach.
- Use whole wheat flour for a healthier dough option.
- For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
- Adjust baking time depending on your oven and thickness of the pizza.
