Deliciously spiced Air Fryer Apples, a quick and easy dessert or side dish featuring tender apples coated in a warm blend of maple syrup, butter, and aromatic spices, all cooked to perfection in an air fryer for a healthy, caramelized treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp preferred)

Maple Spice Mixture

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice apples: Peel the apples carefully and dice them into evenly sized pieces to ensure even cooking in the air fryer.
  2. Melt butter and prepare maple mixture: Melt the butter in a small dish, then whisk in the maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt until fully combined.
  3. Toss apples with maple mixture: Add 2 tablespoons of the maple mixture to the diced apples and toss thoroughly to coat all the pieces evenly.
  4. Air fry apples: Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (188°C) and arrange the coated apples in the basket. Cook for 10 minutes, tossing halfway through cooking and adding 1 more tablespoon of the maple mixture to enhance flavor.
  5. Final toss with remaining maple mixture: Once cooking is complete, transfer the apples to a bowl and toss with the remaining maple mixture to add extra glaze and spice.
  6. Serve: Serve the warm spiced apples immediately as a dessert or side, enjoying their tender texture and rich, sweet spice.

Notes

  • Use Honeycrisp apples for a balance of tartness and sweetness, but Granny Smith or Fuji apples work well too.
  • You can adjust the spices according to your preference—add more cinnamon for extra warmth or omit cloves if you prefer milder flavors.
  • For a vegan option, substitute butter with a plant-based alternative.
  • Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream or yogurt for a delicious dessert.
  • Make sure to toss the apples halfway through air frying to ensure even cooking and caramelization.
