Dough
- 2 cans Pillsbury Country biscuits (10 pieces per can) or 1 can of Grands biscuits
Filling
- 1 cup roughly chopped apple pie filling
Coating
- ½ cup melted butter
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Prepare the Dough: Separate the biscuit dough into individual pieces. Using your hands or a rolling pin, flatten each biscuit into a small circle about 3-4 inches in diameter, ensuring an even thickness for proper sealing.
- Add the Filling: Place approximately 1 tablespoon of the roughly chopped apple pie filling in the center of each flattened biscuit circle, distributing evenly so each bomb is well filled.
- Seal the Bombs: Carefully fold the edges of the biscuit dough over the filling and pinch firmly to seal, forming a ball shape. Make sure there are no gaps or openings to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- Brush with Butter: Using a pastry brush, coat each sealed dough ball with melted butter to help achieve a golden, crispy exterior.
- Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar with ground cinnamon. Roll or sprinkle the buttered dough balls in the cinnamon sugar mixture until they are completely coated.
- Cook the Apple Pie Bombs: Place the coated bombs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching to allow proper air circulation. Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes or until the dough is puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the apple pie bombs from the air fryer carefully and let them cool for 2-3 minutes before serving, as the filling will be very hot.
Notes
- Ensure the dough is sealed completely to avoid filling leakage while cooking.
- Use fresh or canned apple pie filling for convenience and flavor.
- You can substitute the Pillsbury biscuits with any flaky biscuit dough.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, and reheat in the air fryer for best results.
